Resolved... It is never acceptable to lie or "fudge" the truth when it comes to learning. Think feedback. Think stories that are illustrative of a specific scenario. Obviously one should never lie when it comes to fiduciary factors, or regulatory issues. But, are "white" lies ok? Can we stretch the truth ever if our motives are good? What are the ethics here? And before you jump on your high horse and judge this topic... ask yourself do you ever distort the truth in the name of kindness, reaching a specific learning outcome, or some other objective? In this debate, we end the year thinking about Santa Claus and all those children out there told he exists, and how much that ethic carries over into our professional work. Matt takes the affirmative for the purposes of the debate. Clark, the negative. Join us... and share what you think, as well!
