ABSTRACT
As the majority of organizations went into remote work mode early 2020, learning and training departments had to rapidly pivot to digital learning and performance support. The uptake of educational technology solutions grew exponentially. At the same time, the current landscape for learning solutions is more complex and confusing than ever. To begin with, there are a plethora of systems available such as learning management systems (LMS), learning content management systems (LCMS), learning experience platforms (LXP), collaborative and social learning environment, content libraries, and many others. Each of them have similar sounding features and marketing pitches, and these systems are constantly evolving.
If you are involved in this educational technology selection and evaluation process, it is understandingly challenging with little resources and guidelines available. In this workshop, we will take on a practical approach to help you cut through some of the technical jargons and marketing gimmicks, as well as providing a customizable framework.
Together we will:
Consider the current landscape of educational technology, what is available in the market, and what are some emerging trends
Align Learning goals with organizational goals in defining evaluation scope
Set and define criteria in creating an evaluation framework
Learn how to manage your stakeholder group
Discuss the procurement process and contract negotiation
The evaluation framework will focus on these five areas of impact:
Learning and Development Goals
Business/Organizational Goals
Pedagogical Approach
User Experience
Ethical and Privacy
