LDA Debates and Discussions: Should Learning Be Fun?

Some argue strongly for it. They bolster their belief with rewards and activities that get learners up and active in the belief that you must be engaged for learning to occur. Others are strongly against it. Effective learning takes rigor, and they ensure sufficiently challenging practice to achieve ambitious goals. What is a learning designer to do? Debates provide the opportunity to unpack the underlying issues. They may not achieve a consensus, but they definitely expose the underlying thinking on both sides. We're starting a series of debates to address important topics in our field.
Taking up the debate are two LDA stalwarts, Matthew Richter and Clark Quinn with Kat Koppett the courageous moderator.
