Missing LXD in association with Upside Learning
Missing LXD in association with Upside Learning
This program is for experienced Instructional Designers who want to take their design to the next level.
Workshop description:
Learning experience design (LXD) is one of the latest buzzwords flooding our industry. What is less clear is exactly what LXD is, and how it’s different from traditional instructional design (ID). To paraphrase Gloria Steinem, is there any ‘there’ there?
If so then, as an instructional designer, what do you need to know that you don’t know yet? What is it that distinguishes effective and engaging LXD from traditionally-designed learning? Is LXD missing from your designs and learning solutions? And why does it matter?
We argue that LXD is the elegant integration of learning science with engagement. It’s that latter part that separates LXD from ID, but it’s also a return to the important elements from learning science. We don’t want to cover everything you already know, so in this workshop we’re focusing on the bits that make the biggest difference yet are too often missed.
In this six week workshop, we will explore the important elements of LXD, from analysis, through the elements of practice, models, and examples as well as the emotional elements of introductions and conclusions, concluding by looking at the necessary modifications to the design process:
Session 1 - Analysis: the info you need to do LXD
Session 2 - Practice: making it effective
Session 3 - Practices: determining the necessary sequence
Session 4 - ‘Content’: models and examples
Session 5 - Engagement: building and maintaining motivation while containing anxiety
Session 6 - Process: putting it all together
During these six sessions, we will also unpack the nuances that make a difference, both principled and pragmatic.
You will leave with not only awareness of the elements that are missing in your designs, but also with the practical steps you can take to turn your learning from just instructional to transformational.
Seize the opportunity to take your instructional designs to the next level by applying the LXD principles that will make you and your learning solutions stand out!
This workshop was developed by and is being run in conjunction with Upside Learning, a leading elearning solutions provider.
