PART I: WHAT THE HECK ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
This opening segment explores the definition of leadership… or rather, the myriad of ways in which leadership gets defined and applied across various domains. Participants will experience sessions from Nigel, Matthew Richter, and Ciela Hartanov exploring the impact of these definitions on an industry bursting at its seams with an abundance of leadership development initiatives. They will explore the current state of leadership development and whether we are in fact, wasting both time and money. Finally they will share with you the current state of research on leadership and leadership development.
PART II: LEADERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS
Four leadership development experts will share their insights on applications within different domains such as our own learning and development, service and healthcare, education, and non-profit organizations. Each presentation will be followed with group activities allowing participants to reflect and personalize the material shared.
PART III: WHAT DO OTHER EXPERTS SAY?
We will also host several executives from global organizations and other experts through a series of presentations, panel discussions, and interviews. We will explore how these experts think about leadership and leadership development. We will explore the motivational effects on leadership and how leaders can create a more intrinsically motivating environment. We will also dive into concepts surrounding self-leadership, systems thinking, and other theories and models that inform how we approach this nebulous and vague concept.
PART IV: AND, SO WHAT?
Participants will share their own experiences with leadership development as stakeholders, designers, developers, and facilitators conduct a series of master classes with experts (and conference peers) providing feedback, tips, and other supportive “best practices.”. And we will close the conference with an action learning activity, giving all participants a chance to determine whether they should initiate leadership development, if so, how to do so, and then how to execute on that process.
All presentations, interviews, and panels will be videoed and available to attendees post-conference.
