What it is

Learning Insights Weekly is a new adventure—a short weekly discussion and community reflection opportunity focused each week on innovative ideas and insights in learning and development. Hosted by industry veteran Will Thalheimer, these 45-55 minute online gatherings will be designed to inspire creative insight, to energize, to enable sharing—to enable those who join regularly to continually develop their wisdom around learning and the practice of L&D.

 

Here’s how it’s going to work:

Every week for 45-55 minutes or so, we’ll do something like this:

THE MAIN GATHERING

  • Will Thalheimer will offer an idea or insight related to our work in learning and development. Sometimes practical. Sometimes foundational. Sometimes innovative. Sometimes beyond convention! (10-20 minutes)

  • You and other participants will be encouraged to engage in structured reflection, alone and in small groups. (10-15 minutes)

  • We will then gather together—all of us—and engage in a structured silent chat discussion, sharing reflections. (5-10 minutes)

  • Will Thalheimer will offer some closing thoughts or lead us in a closing exercise. (up to 5 minutes)

  • THAT WILL END THE STRUCTURED PART OF THE SESSION.
    MAXIMUM TIME will be 50 minutes.

THE AFTER GATHERING

  • We will open up the chat for a short time, maybe 5-10 minutes, to enable further thoughts, networking, fun, shared support.

  • Here you’ll be able to recommend books, ask questions, post jobs, share your job-hunting stories, celebrate successes, share worries, get advice, offer advice, tell jokes, connect one on one, and more.

 

Particulars

Learning Insights Weekly is a new adventure. As such, we will be open to experimentation, mistakes, mid-course corrections, innovations, and kinetic community trajectories—oh yeah!

The weekly gatherings will NOT be recorded for later viewing, except perhaps for the purposes of quality assurance, marketing, and program improvement. WHY NOT? Learning Insights Weekly is designed to create weekly experiential community-driven learning events. We want participants to be present, focused, and unworried. We believe that recordings would—for Learning Insights Weekly—produce an inferior learning experience. And that would be unacceptable.
